Eye problem

My optician couldn't find the nerve in the back of my right eye and is concerned as I haven't been given the all clear from the neurology department yet so has asked for a referral as she suspects I may have a problem.

I am very skirmish about eyes (don't know if that's how you spell it?) and don't know what they're going to do to me, but I have been told not to drive to and from the appointment!

Zoe slept through the night!

Zoe slept through the night the night before last! Smile I was so happy!
She slept through the night she was born: 21st October 2007 and then again on 10th January 2008, 7th March 2008 and then the 23rd May!
I'm therefore not expecting another good night until July! lol
She is sleeping in her cot now which is great and is fine in her travel cot when we go away.
She's crawling well and pulling herself up into a standing position on various pieces of furniture. She is great. Smile

Dr Richard Ferber technique

Night 1:

Had screaming from 7-8pm last night but was OK, no being sick or choking on her tongue then went to sleep.
Zoe stirred a bit later in the evening, don't know what time but she went back to sleep and woke for a feed at 130am.
She went straight back to sleep and woke again for another feed at 530am then drifted off again and slept till 815am.
A good night's sleep. Thank you. Looking forward to tonight!

Night 2:

We had only 45 minutes of screaming last night and then Zoe went to sleep... for half an hour!
She then woke up a bit startled because of the thunder storm and Richard rushing in thinking I'd collapsed (it was the thunder!) and she was due a feed. Put her on my breast and she laughed, little madam, as if to say, aha, I got my own way!
She fed for 20 minutes and fell asleep so I put her in her cot, fine.
Slept till 2am, fed, went back to sleep in cot, slept till 6am then wanted to get up.
Seemed to be OK but a little frustrating as she spent 45 minutes going to sleep and woke up after half an hour.
We knew she was tired because she didn't have an afternoon kip, just lunchtime.
Watch this space for tomorrow's update.

Night 3:

I'm afraid I had to cheat yesterday. I didn't have an hour to let Zoe scream before her half hour kip and get to swimming and I wanted her to be fed and relaxed for her swim, so I let her sleep on the bed for half an hour.
The swim went well, had lunch and then went to Cathedral Club. Zoe was still awake and seemed to want her kip later. At that point I too wanted a kip and didn't have the energy to endure an hour sleep so I let her sleep on the bed again for half an hour.
Zoe had her 6pm feed and seemed quite awake and spent the evening peacefully playing and enjoying the snooker on TV! In fact she was so peaceful we worried she might be ill!
I fed her at 830pm and put her to bed prepared to start the day 1 routine but she went straight to sleep in her cot with no screaming at all...
Only to wake half an hour later!
So I completed her feed and put her back in her cot, again she went down straight away with no fuss.
She slept through till 2pm and fed, went straight back to sleep in her cot till 5pm and fed again and went straight back to sleep in her cot till 630am.
Again I wasn't going to have an hour screaming just to have another half hour when she would usually start to get up so I put her in bed with me. She woke up half an hour later happy, smiling and ready to play again.
I will go back to day 1 routine again later.

Night 9:

We’ve since decided that it is more productive for Zoe to sleep either on the bed or in the pushchair for her half hour naps and stick to our routine in the evening. She seems (touch wood) to be settling fairly well in the evening although we need to get into a tighter routine starting at a specific time.

I have found that just gently rubbing her back helps to calm her. We started the 'more organised' bedtime routine today and she went to sleep in 8 minutes! Hope it carries on like this!

It says in the book not to pick them up or touch them but like all things I think you have to adapt them to suit. I really couldn't bare her scrwaming for an hour. She is such a happy child and it is totally out of character for her to behave like this.
